On Wednesday, we left the historic “40 Acre” compound, the original headquarters of the United Farmworkers Union. As we headed to a rally at Allensworth State Park we commemorated the “I AM A MAN” 1968 march of Black Americans which brought attention to the civil rights movement. We are carrying that torch today. Education and social services are a civil and indeed, a basic human right.

I wrote my senior thesis in college on the town of Allensworth and Boley (another all-black town) and was excited when I discovered that we would have the opportunity during this march to stay on the site of the town, now a state park in Earlimart, CA.
