Day 5 Morning. Overcast, no rain in the forecast, and we're gearing up for a 7.5 mile march to Delano. We stayed at McFarland Middle School last night. I ended up sleeping outside. I met Casey Magorian, 5th generation from McFarland, his dad graduated class of '41. Casey is a maintenance worker for McFarland School District. His daughter Kassie Magorian teaches 3rd grade in Bakersfield. She has a credential, and for her commitment to Education, she received a pink slip -- laid off due to budget cuts.

The early part of our walk to McFarland was kind of quiet. It was overcast and cool. Few cars.

So as we were walking, a lone car pulled over to the side of the road. We weren't really sure what was going on. Next thing we knew, a woman stepped out of her car wearing an "I am marching" t-shirt. I quickly dashed into the RV and got my camera. For what happened next, I'll let the video tell the story of how Hilda Beltran joined our march:
